Meal Mingle at Los Banditos on Main
Join us on Wednesday, May 7th from 12:00-1:00 for another Meal Mingle at Los Banditos, 1258 Main Street, Green Bay. Meal Mingle is a casual lunch event intended to allow participants to network and meet other peers. Just lunch with friends. There is no planned activity and lunch expense is on your own. Please RSVP your attendance to Melinda Pollen via email or at 593-3407.

Growing Your Green Thumb
Opened to the public in 1996, Green Bay Botanical Garden’s 47 acres of display gardens and natural areas capture the beauty of Northeastern Wisconsin’s four distinct and wonderful seasons. Visitors will enjoy outstanding garden architecture that sets the stage for an all-star performance by plants specially chosen for their ability to thrive in the upper mid-west.

A horticultural and recreational resource to the region, Green Bay Botanical offers a variety of educational programs to its members and the community. A year-round calendar of special events features a wonderful mix of gardening, cultural, and family activities.

We'll begin the event with a cocktail hour on the ground floor of the Visitor's Center overlooking the gardens. We'll then be taken on a guided tour of these spectacular gardens during a peak season with a number of plants in full bloom.

Event Review: How to Work a Room
Nearly 90 young professionals gathered on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 to hear Diane Roundy of Schenck Business Solutions talk about how to effectively network and work a room. Some useful tips she provided include:
-Read one newspaper a day. This will give you something in common to talk about.
-Enter the room with confidence and act as the host, not the guest.
-Place your nametag on the right hand side.
-If you arrive with friends, split up and find other people to interact with.
-Approach groups of 3 or more and be open to inviting others in.
-Introduce yourself, your company and what you do.
-Send thank you notes within 24 hours and include 2 business cards.

2009 Regional Event
Green Bay will be hosting the young professionals regional event in spring of 2009. We are currently looking for volunteers to assist with the planning of this event. Our four subcommittees include Marketing & Public Relations, Sponsor Relations, Speakers & Sessions and Event Planning. This is an ad hoc appointment that will last for one year. If you're interested in serving on one of the four subcommittees or would like to learn more, contact Brian Johnson, Current Program Manager at 593-3408. Click Here for a list of the committee responsibilities.

Call for Speaker Nominations
As hosts for Leaderfest in 2009, we are currently soliciting nominations for keynote speakers. If you have a recommendation on who you would like to hear speak next spring, tell us about it. Contact Crystal Heckel, Leaderfest '09 Speakers & Sessions committee chair.

Live First, Work Second Book Discussion
Our April Read to Lead session will be the book Live First, Work Second. This book can be ordered directly from the author's web site at www.nextgenerationconsulting.com. Rebecca Ryan, author of Live First, Work Second has been at the forefront of the young professional movement and consults on a variety to topics including how to create attractive communities, how to attract young professionals and how employers can create work environments that young professionals want to be part of.
